Campus 2 Campus Bikeway
Commuting between the University of Michigan's two Ann Arbor campuses can take some getting used to, especially considering there is no clear and direct route between the them. Commuting by bike is a common option, but takes riders along an unclear course through some of Ann Arbor's busiest streets and most dangerous intersections.
The Campus 2 Campus Bikeway Alliance formed as a student initiative to create a safe and easy to navigate bike route connecting the two campuses. Working with local biking coalitions, the C2CBA coordinated efforts with local planning agencies to develop route recommendations and wayfinding strategies for a new bikeway connecting UM's campuses. Our team created and distributed a bike preferences survey to over 2,000 participants, conducted field observations on current biking habits, and created outreach and presentation materials to garner support and create implementable route recommendations. The C2CBA team recently won UM's Planet Blue Sustainability Initiative Fund securing $10,000 in funds to implement the project.
During my time at the C2CBA, I co-authored and analyzed our bike preferences survey, created branding material and wayfinding graphics, collected and analyzed field observations, and designed the presentation and outreach materials.
